Little Gardens - 31 October 2016

It has been a week now since the last diary entry and we have noted the following:

There are 21 pots that have still not sprouted. We have found that it was quite interesting that the plants have grown long and skinny. We think that the radish and a few others should be planted in the school garden with the other plants. We hope that all the other plants will grow soon. Okay now time for the vegetable joke of the day “what was the radishes chore? Rad Dishes.

25th October - Day 14

We have had a long weekend and this is what we found when we arrived at school. Tuesday 25/10 Mrs French bought out the Little Gardens to us in the Te Manawanui. We were excited to see how they had grown! The plants are sprouting up and heaps of new ones have got sprouts too. We measured all the plants and these are the measurements. We think the plants that haven’t grown yet will by the end of the week. Also we think the plants on our chart will get more sprouts and grow taller. By Tai, Ruth and Toni

Day 9 - 20 October 2016

Day 9 Thursday 20th of October Overnight success! We have noticed that there has been alot of growing overnight - 1 radish, 1 kale, 1 thyme and 1 lettuce have grown. We now have 6 types of vegetables. We have observed the following Radish, has 5 sprouts the tallest is 5 cm. Cress, 5 sprouts, the tallest 3 cm. Rocket, 7 sprouts, the tallest 5 cm. Some of the rocket has grown so fast, like a rocket ship, it has bent over . Kale has 1 sprout of 0.5cm. Thyme has 1 sprout of 0.5 cms. The thyme is very thin and skinny and hard to spot, 1cm. Lettuce, 2 sprouts both 1 cm . One thing we noticed is that all the seeds are growing towards the sun. Time for our daily vegetable joke - Where does Rocket sprout ? in outer space !! Day 8

Observations by Nicholas and Ethen One of the Lettuce pots has sprouted two seeds! On is .2cm tall and the other 1cm. All of the pots of Cress have sprouted, one of the pot has sprouted three seeds and the other has one. Kale: On seed has just sprouted and is about to unfold a leaf. Raddish has two pots and one has one seed and the other has three seeds that have sprouted. The tallest one is 3cm and the shortest is 1cm and the other 1.5cm. These have grown the fastest since they sprouted. We now have four types of vegetables.

Day 7

17th Diary Entry

Little Garden Tuesday 11 Oct Children from Rooms 12 and 11 were chosen to plant a little garden in pairs. One person picked a Little Garden mystery box. Next the other one opened the box and then got 200mls of water. While they were getting water the first person snapped the dry mud in half and put the biggest piece in the pot. Then the second person came back and gave the jug to the other person. Next the person with the jug poured 100mls of water into the pot. Then they put the seed mat on top and then put the other half of dirt in and poured the last of the water into the pot. Nothing happened till Monday 17 Oct Monday 17 Oct Today both of the cress sprouted one seed each two seeds in one of the rockets have sprouted the smallest seed is 2 mm tall the other is 3.5 cms.
