Our Daily Diary

Little Garden Written by Tayla and Olive On Tuesday the eleventh of October Room 12 planted our little gardens. First we got put into pairs and they decided who would be the chooser and who would be the opener. The chooser would break the mud pellet in half and put one of the halves inside the pot. Then they poured fifty mills of water inside the pot and then patted the soil down until it wasn't watery any more. Once the soil was firm they softly patted down the seed mat and then put the second mud half in and pour the last fifty mills in the pot and pat it down and once it is not watery then put the label in and put the pot in the plastic holder. On Friday nothing had come and in the weekend nothing had come but on Monday when we came to school both Rocket and Cress had sprouted. Now thanks to the hot warm weather and the Watercress, the Rocket, Cress and Radish have sprouted. And there is much more to come! The Little Garden Diary - by Niamh, Charlie and Safera On Tuesday the eleventh of October we started to plant our Little Gardens. Our Little Garden buddies were room eleven.First of all the teachers of room 11 and room 12 partnered us up, to plant the little garden seeds.Next we took the seeds and dirt out of our pot. The next instruction was to break the dirt in half then one person from each pair went up to the sink in room 12 and filled it up to 100 mls. Ethan made a prediction that cress would sprout first. By Friday the 14th of october we couldn't see that any of the Little Gardens had sprouted. After the weekend both of the cress had sprouted and rocket had sprouted too!!!!! Little Garden Diary Report Jemma and Emily-Rose Day 1: We got called up to choose and plant a little garden. First we chose a little garden to plant. Then we pulled off the cardboard, and inside was a packet of seedlings (seed mat) and a little block of hard soil. We broke it in half and put the biggest piece into the peat pot. After that we put 50 ml of water into the peat pot making the soil no longer be a hard block, so it was squashed into what soil usually looks like. Then we put the seed mat on top. Next we got the other half of the soil and put it in. After that it was time for the water. We added another 50 ml into the peat pot and did the same thing to the soil. Now it was time to wait! Day 2. We decided it would be good to plant some more little gardens, so that’s what we did! We went through the same process. Get out the soil and seed mat, break the soil, water, push down, and put the sign in. We planted several more, until we had used up the whole set. Nothing had sprouted yet, but of course you wouldn’t expect it to! WE kept waiting. At the end of the day, we watered them to help them sprout. Day 3. Nothing had popped up above the surface yet, So we decided to look at the back on the little garden signs. The information was actually quite useful! It told us when the plants will start sprouting, when to harvest them, and what temperature to keep it at. The plants that were expected to sprout first, were, crest, rocket, and radish. At the end of the day, we watered them and left them to grow through the night. Day 4. Still nothing had sprouted yet, but we hadn’t lost hope. We Kept watering them until finally… Day 7. WOO-HOO! Some little gardens had sprouted! As we anticipated, the radish, rocket, and cress had all sprouted! We kept watering them, and then went home. Some little gardens had finally sprouted! Day 8. When we went to check on the little gardens, we had noticed that one of the lettuces had sprouted! It wasn’t far above the surface, but at least it was up! We can’t wait until they’re ready to harvest! Little Garden by Tai and Bogdan Tuesday last week we planted our little gardens. First we got into partners and got choose our plant packet.
